Clinical Preventive Dentistry
Course description
The purpose of this course is to have the third and fourth-year students demonstrate his/her ability to apply didactic knowledge presented in Cariology and Periodontal first-year courses to the clinical setting. This includes the ability to communicate instructions on performing oral hygiene techniques and methods (i.e., brushing, interproximal cleaning, and the use of various oral hygiene aides). It also includes demonstrating a Preventive Treatment Plan, which represents the integration of all the didactic and clinical skills of the student in formulating a clinical treatment plan (including prevention, restorations, and periodontal therapy) based on the caries and periodontal risk.
