System I
Course description
In the coming ten weeks, you will be introduced to three very important human body systems, the cardiovascular, respiratory and renal systems. The basic science concepts that you will learn in this course and the next four “Systems” courses will gradually shape the foundation for your future clinical and dental application courses. The curriculum is designed in a way that you are introduced to the basic disciplines in an integrative manner, simultaneously covering morphological, physiological, pharmacological, pathophysiological, and clinical aspects of those body systems that are imminently relevant to oral and dental sciences.
In order to accomplish your learning goals in the “Systems” courses, you are required to: a) continually apply the basic information to the clinical setting; and b) to integrate the newly acquired information with those previously gained across the year. Every attempt will be made in this and all the subsequent teaching blocks to bridge the basic science concepts with their applications in dental practice.
