Course Description: This is a 9 hour lecture course for 2nd year DDS students, given in the Fall Quarter. The main topic of the course will be foundational information regarding the pathogenesis of pulpal and periradicular diseases. Also, the course will cover the technical aspect of conventional endodontic therapies, including access opening, cleaning/shaping, obturation, and provisional restoration of the tooth. The course is given in preparation for the RFE209 course given in the Winter Quarter of the 2nd year.

Course Description: This formative course includes 4 projects, an independent mid-term exercise, and an independent final exercise, all of which must be completed to an acceptable rating by the last day of instruction for the quarter. Each project and independent exercise involves multiple separate student and instructor assessments. These objective assessments are based upon the clearly defined UCLA Criteria for Endodontic Evaluation.
