Course description 

This course provides D4 students foundational information on quality (QI) improvement  approaches used in health care and an overview of their applications in dentistry. In addition, class presentations and discussions provide opportunities to review and discuss key points to learn to apply quality assessment and quality improvement (QI) methods in health care, about real-world applications of QI principles in different settings. A Case-Based Learning format is used to facilitate the transition to the independent professional. In addition, students complete online coursework offered by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) and Dental Quality Alliance to further their understanding of how quality improvement methods can be applied to oral health care.
