This summer, the UCLA School of Dentistry is profiling three Dental Dynamos who are making the most of their D.D.S. student experience! Representing the classes of 2024, 2025, and 2026, these Bruins are not only excelling in their formal training but are pursuing opportunities beyond Westwood to help position themselves as successful practitioners.

UCLA School of Dentistry Dean Paul Krebsbach has announced the appointment of three health sciences assistant clinical professors to director-level positions. Drs. Shahed Al Khalifah and Denny Chao will serve as co-directors of Innovative Digital Dentistry Systems (iDDS), while Dr. Kelly Vitzthum will direct the Community-Based Clinical Education (CBCE) program.

Nine UCLA School of Dentistry-affiliated researchers are presenting their findings during the 2023 International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (IADR) General Session and Exhibition, June 20 through 24 in Bogotá, Colombia​​​​​​.

The General Session features interactive talks, focused learning sessions, hands-on workshops, keynote addresses, and symposia from global experts, and provides an extraordinary opportunity for oral health researchers to form new connections and grow their professional networks. 

Beginning Tuesday, June 20, a cohort of 27 undergraduate scientists from around the country will conduct eight weeks of graduate-level genomics research in UCLA School of Dentistry laboratories, as well as those in the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.

The UCLA School of Dentistry is honored to announce Anh Le, D.D.S. ’92, Ph.D./O.M.F.S. ‘98 as its 2023 Alumnus of the Year.

The UCLA School of Dentistry delegation has returned from the 2023 American Association of Orthodontics (AAO) Annual Session in Chicago, a conference highlighted by third-year resident Tam Duong, D.D.S., O. ‘23 earning a prestigious case study award.

For 30 years, students and faculty from the UCLA School of Dentistry have made regular journeys across the Pacific to Meikai University, just outside Tokyo, and Asahi University, about 75 miles northeast of Kyoto, to share and absorb the latest in dental techniques and technology — and get a taste of the local culture — with their Japanese counterparts.

Business leader, dentist, and UCLA alumna Naomi Ellison, D.D.S., ’81, will deliver the UCLA School of Dentistry’s 2023 commencement address on Sunday, June 4, at 10 a.m. in Royce Hall.
