Centennial Campaign Highlights
October 2014
Longtime UCLA Philanthropists Bob and Marion Wilson donated $2 million for an endowed scholarship fund. This gift is the largest scholarship donation the dental school has ever received.
May 2015
The UCLA School of Dentistry marked its 50th Anniversary with a gala that welcomed more than 500 guests to celebrate the School's legacy and future. The same year, the Shapiiro Family - Ralph, Shirley, and their son, Peter - supported the establishment of the School's 9th endowed chair, the UCPLA Endowed Chair in Special Patient Care with Dr. Eric Sung serving as the inaugural chair holder.
March 2018
UCLA School of Dentistry established the Community-Based Clinical Education (CBCE) program, securing a $1.5 million gift from Delta Dental of California — the largest award the foundation has ever given to a dental school. The philanthropic funding helped to launch the program, led by Dr. Bill Piskorowski, which supports UCLA student dentists providing care for some of the most vulnerable patients in California and beyond.
September 2019
The dental school celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the Wilson-Jennings-Bloomfield UCLA Venice Dental Center and welcomed nearly 300 special guests who paid homage to the Center’s mission of providing dental care to vulnerable patients, including families experiencing homelessness. The celebration helped raise the Center’s endowment funding to approximately $8.5 million.
October 2019
The UCLA Pediatric Dentistry Clinic renovation was completed, creating a state-of-the-art dental home for some of the most vulnerable pediatric patients in Los Angeles. Dr. Oariona Lowe, DDS, PD ’84, MPH ’16 and Dr. Mark Lisagor, DDS ’73, PD ’77, partnered with section chair Dr. Daniela Silva to lead the fundraising effort for this transformative renovation. The majority of gifts to this campaign were made by UCLA Pediatric Dentistry alumni and friends.
