Board of Counselors' Leadership Institute (BOCLI)
What is BOCLI?
**APPLICATIONS FOR 2025 CLOSE ON NOV. 4, 2024**
The Board of Counselors' Leadership Institute (BOCLI) is an elective offering for third- and fourth-year D.D.S. students, comprised of 10 sessions held on Wednesday evenings (6 to 8 p.m.) during winter and spring quarters. The 2025 BOCLI Cohort will convene on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2025, with sessions held in the Ellison Boardroom within the Dean’s Suite.
Participants will be required to attend all sessions* and complete required assignments in a timely fashion. During the final two sessions, cohort members will present their five- and 10-year leadership roadmaps. BOCLI culminates with participants being awarded a certificate of completion during a celebration with Dean Krebsbach and members of the Board of Counselors.
A small program size is necessary to ensure meaningful experiences for participants. Thus, the BOCLI cohort is limited to third- and fourth-year D.D.S. students.
*Please note we will do our best to accommodate Community-Based Clinical Education (CBCE) rotations. Further instructions will be given should you be selected.
Why BOCLI?
There are many opportunities for aspiring oral health care professionals to engage in leadership at the School of Dentistry. BOCLI unites these motivated students with volunteer mentors from the School’s Board of Counselors who bring extensive knowledge, experience, and skills from their dental careers. Guest speaker sessions featuring leaders from diverse fields delving into topics such as emotional intelligence, entrepreneurship, spokesperson, and communications training.
The purpose of this program is to share knowledge, experience, and skill sets to help participants establish their goals and objectives, identify their leadership styles, and develop skills critical for becoming successful leaders.
The Board of Counselors (BOC) is comprised of alumni, friends, and industry leaders, collectively serving as the Dean’s advisory board to offer support in raising philanthropic funds to advance the School’s programs spanning academic, patient care, community service, and research.
