Hospital Dentistry Preceptorship

* Didactic courses are not repeated throughout the year. The program is specified to the individual and is formulated through discussions between the preceptor and the program director. The program director reserves the right to modify the program content at any time based upon the needs and/or performance of the preceptor.

The intent of the Hospital Dentistry Preceptorship program is to provide the preceptor with an overview of the dental management of medically compromised patients in both the outpatient and inpatient settings, as well as provide exposure to the latest philosophies in all phases of general dentistry. This is accomplished through the active participation in didactic courses and clinical rotations that coincide with the General Practice Residency Program (link to program). The breadth and number of experiences will vary depending on the length of program chosen and the effort put forth by the preceptor. This program is an excellent opportunity for foreign-trained dentists to see the integration of basic sciences with clinical patient care.

A certificate of attendance is awarded upon successful completion of the program. This certificate is not the same as the postgraduate program certificate awarded to full-time international postgraduates in specialty training as a qualification for recognition by the Commission on Dental Accreditation.

The admissions committee considers the following criteria in its decisions:

• Academic achievement (GPA and class rank if available)

• Content of personal statement

• Content of confidential reports

Fees: $4,700 per quarter (subject to change)

Certificate Fee: One-time payment of $200
