The Pediatric Dentistry Advanced Clinical Training Program is designed for foreign-trained dentists who wish to return to an academic setting for short periods of time to supplement the knowledge and experiences gained from earlier training and subsequent professional experiences. Trainees are able to audit all courses offered by the Section of Pediatric Dentistry during their enrollment. Course topics include histology and embryology, growth and development, interceptive orthodontics, oral pathology, behavior management, preventive dentistry, pediatric diagnosis and treatment, sedation and anesthesia, pediatric medicine, practice management, and research methodology.

Each trainee is permitted to design a curriculum according to his/her desired objective upon consultation with and approval from the program director. Trainees spend approximately 30% of their time to observe patient care in the Pediatric Dentistry Clinic. Seminars and classes typically account for 40% time, and there is about 30% undesignated time available for library use, faculty and resident discussions, lectures, and research. Trainees may perform patient treatment at the discretion of the faculty.
