Spotlight On Staff: Interview With Brianna Aldrich
Interview With Brianna Aldrich
Dean Krebsbach: What is your job title and role here at the school?
Brianna: My title is Director of Communications and my job is to show the public through web, print publications, social media, and media outreach what an amazing place UCLA Dentistry is.
Dean Krebsbach: What do you like most about working for UCLA?
Brianna: I’m not an alumna of UCLA, but Bruin Pride is infectious. I’m proud to say that I work for one of the top public research universities in the country. And furthermore, one of the best dental schools in the world. This campus is a special place and I feel fortunate to be a part of what moves it forward.
Dean Krebsbach: How has this pandemic changed the way you function in your professional and personal life?
Brianna: Well, for starters, it’s been very challenging trying to work with two young boys stuck at home. Screen time limits are out the window. My patience has been tested a lot. The other thing I’m trying to do is to stay connected with coworkers. I try not to go too many days without checking in to see how they’re doing – above and beyond just work-related questions or decisions. With a lot of people being forced into isolation, we need to look out for each other.
Dean Krebsbach: What project are you working on right now that you’re most excited about?
Brianna: We’re getting a new website! This is my second website for the school and it’s eye-opening the amount of time and work that’s involved in launching a new website. Just on the audience research and pre-production analysis alone, it was months of work. Digital presence is more important than ever and I hope I do the School justice with this new website.
Dean Krebsbach: Anything else you’d like to tell our community?
Brianna: Prior to the pandemic, it was easy to go months without meeting a new hire or talking to someone who worked in a different area, but I encourage everyone to reach out to share their news with me. There are a lot of interesting things going on and it’s important that we promote our community.
