Admissions and Applying
Requirements for Admissions
- Citizenship/Permanent Resident Status:
- Proof of your status as a U.S. citizen or permanent U.S. resident must be provided by June 1st of the admission year or acceptance into the program may be withdrawn. Failure to provide proof of U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency after the start of the program shall result in automatic suspension and may result in dismissal from the program.
- Dental Degree: DDS or DMD degree from a CODA-accredited program
- INBDE/NBDE Scores: National Board Dental Examination (NBDE), Parts I and II or Integrated National Board Dental Examination (INBDE) Official score reports must be submitted through PASS before November 1. Applicants who otherwise meet the August 15 PASS deadline may be considered for interviews without the INBDE score, but if it is not posted to PASS by November 1, those interviewed candidates will not be ranked for Match.
- GRE Scores: Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores must be reported in your PASS application.
- ADAT Scores: Advanced Dental Admission Test (ADAT) scores are NOT required but will be considered by the admissions committee if provided
- UCLA no longer requires a supplemental application – only the information provided in your PASS application will be considered for admission.
Application Process
PASS Application Deadline: August 15
- Submit ALL primary materials through the Postdoctoral Application Support Service (PASS) website.
- Participate in the Postdoctoral Dental Matching Program (Match) for Orthodontic programs.
Oral Biology Master's Graduate Application
Applicants must apply for admission to the Oral Biology Master’s Program through the UCLA Graduate Division only after matching to the UCLA Orthodontic Residency Program.
UCLA Graduate Division Deadline: December 15
Incomplete files will not be considered, including files of any applicant who fails to submit a timely application to the Oral Biology Master’s Program. All application information that is collected will be kept confidential.
