In advance of Valentine's Day, we put out the call to Bruin alums and students, asking for your UCLA School of Dentistry love stories. From Class of 1977 alums approaching their golden anniversary to a couple who found each other on the first day of D1 orientation last September, thanks for sharing your heartwarming tales of matches made in heaven … and scrubs.

February is Black History Month! In celebration, the UCLA School of Dentistry's Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee has created an interactive timeline of Black contributions to oral health care, from early practitioners like Dr. Robert Tanner Freeman and Dr. Ida Gray Nelson Rollins, to Dr. Jeanne Craig Sinkford – the first female dental school dean in the U.S. – to some notable accomplishments here in Westwood.

On Wednesday, Jan. 17, the annual UCLA School of Dentistry Board of Counselors' Leadership Institute (BOCLI) welcomes its 2024 student cohort.

A pair of UCLA School of Dentistry faculty members served as guest editors of the California Dental Association Journal's Dental Student Research Highlight 2023, which includes a pair of peer-reviewed publications authored by members of the Bruin scholarly community.

If there’s one word that encapsulates Lauren Chapman’s adult life, it’s leader.

From captain of the cheerleading team as a Penn State undergrad, to serving as a Surface Warfare Officer in the United States Navy, to four years as class president, this UCLA School of Dentistry D.D.S. ‘24 candidate is driven by a desire to mentor and uplift others.

The most academically accomplished incoming class in UCLA School of Dentistry history began its Bruin journey with four days of orientation activities from Sept. 17 to 21, and will join the three continuing D.D.S. cohorts for the start of the 2023-24 academic year on Monday, Sept. 25.

The UCLA School of Dentistry’s Dental Dynamos series – introducing you to students who are making the most of their dental school experience – concludes with Jay Patel, D.D.S. ‘25. The 2023-24 Associated Student Body (ASB) president, Patel is dedicated to his formal training, as well as opportunities beyond the classroom and clinic, to help position himself as a successful practitioner.

This summer’s Dental Dynamos series showcases students who are making the most of their D.D.S. experience! Representing the classes of 2024, 2025, and 2026, these Bruins are not only excelling in their formal training but are pursuing opportunities beyond Westwood to help position themselves as successful practitioners.
