Job Description: Communications Student Assistant

The UCLA School of Dentistry (SOD) seeks a communications student assistant to help engage with constituents and help elevate the school’s profile via its numerous promotional platforms. Reporting to the SOD’s director of communications, while also supporting the senior artist, the student assistant’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Adding new website content, and editing/updating existing pages (training provided)
  • Creating social media content, with an emphasis on photo and video for Instagram Stories and Reels
  • Monitoring social media mentions and direct messages, and either engaging directly or 
  • Organizing the school’s photo archives, including curating collections of top images
  • Aggregating social media analytics for monthly report
  • Light graphic design
  • Other duties as assigned
     

Preferred qualifications:

  • Previous experience producing marketing and communications collateral for a company or organization
  • Working knowledge of the following applications: Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, iMovie (or equivalent), Hootsuite/Buffer (or equivalent), Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
  • Strong copywriting abilities
  • Knowledge of dentistry, and/or an interest in pursuing the field professionally
     

Commitment: 8-10 hours per week during UCLA’s fall, winter, and spring quarters. Work may be performed partially remote 

Pay rate: $16.04 per hour
