This self-study course is designed to meet the DEA requirements for the Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act.

The course provides content consistent with DEA requirement for the MATE act and includes learning topics and materials related to prevention, recognition, and care of people with substance use disorders. It includes the categories of substance use disorders, effective treatment planning, pain management and substance misuse.

The DEA requires health care professionals who prescribe controlled substances to complete a one-time-only eight hours of training on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.

  1. In the course confirmation email, access the study materials using the link provided.
  2. Review the course study materials.
  3. In the course post-test email, access the post-test using the link provided and answer questions to attain a 75%+ grade to pass.
  4. Upon successfully passing the post-test, your CE credit/attendance verification will be made available within an hour through another email with a link.
