This mandatory course for California dentists, registered dental hygienists, and registered dental assistants is a self-study course, updated for 2025.
This course fulfills the mandatory requirement of a Board-approved course on the California Dental Practice Act as defined in Section 1016.(b)1 of the California Code of Regulations for Dentists, RDHs, and RDAs. This course includes instruction on infection control techniques to minimize the risks of disease transmission in the dental healthcare setting.

• Respiratory Hygiene/Cough Etiquette
• Sharps Safety and Safe Injection Practices
• Sterilization and Disinfection Practices
• Environmental Infection Prevention and Control
• Dental Unit Water Quality
• CAL/OSHA COVID-19 standards
Course Objectives:
• Understanding and adherence to infection control and hygiene protocols
• Show knowledge of sharps safety and safe injection practices
• Be able to execute proper environmental infection prevention, sterilization, and disinfection
• Understand types and use of personal protective equipment
• Awareness of CAL/OSHA COVID-19 standards
Instructions:

- post-test email
1. In the course confirmation email, access the study materials using the link provided.
2. Review the course study materials.
3. In the course post-test email, access the post-test using the link provided and answer questions to attain a 75%+ grade to pass.
4. Upon successfully passing the post-test, your CE credit/attendance verification will be made available within an hour through another email with a link.
