Our Mission

The UCLA Weintraub Center for Reconstructive Biotechnology and the Division of Advanced Prosthodontics are home to innovative scientists and clinicians who share a common goal:

Prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of oral, head and neck tissue defects

The Weintraub Center for Reconstructive Biotechnology is unlike any other translational research center in the world. It is home to cutting-edge advances at the interface of engineering, biology and medicine that are being translated into important breakthroughs in patient care. A major focus of the Weintraub Center is the development of advanced technologies for regenerative medicine, cancer therapeutics, immune modulation, drug delivery, implants, sensing and imaging.

Biomedical science now stands on the threshold of a new and uncharted era of discovery which promises to revolutionize the treatment of facial defects. Advances in stem cell biology, gene editing, personalized medicine, and advanced biomanufacturing, are accelerating our ability to repair the devastation caused by birth defects, cancer, or trauma. The impact of such an achievement will be remarkable and far-reaching.
