Hu Lab

Welcome to the Hu Lab at UCLA!

Our lab investigates the genetic, biomechanical, and metabolic principles that govern craniofacial development and regeneration. Using the mouse tooth and mandible as model systems, we explore how cells self-organize into precise three-dimensional forms during embryonic development and how adult organs maintain balanced cellular composition and tissue architecture. By integrating mouse genetics, live imaging, genomic studies, and biomechanical approaches, we seek to uncover fundamental mechanisms of tissue morphogenesis and stem cell regulation, and to apply this knowledge towards innovative strategies in regenerative medicine.
