This recorded video lecture will present medical aspects of endocrine disorders as they relate to dental care. Clinicians will be able to utilize this information to improve dental patient assessment and care. This is Module 1 of 2.

Participants will learn about:

  • diabetes epidemiology
  • diabetes classification and medical management
  • thyroid diseases and medical management
  • glucocorticosteroids effects and adrenal diseases

Course Objectives

By the end of the lecture, participants will be able to:

  • define the pathophysiology and treatments of type 1 and type 2 diabetes
  • explain thyroid autoimmunity and the clinical aspects of the hypo- and hyperthyroid states
  • describe common adrenal conditions
