UCLA School of Dentistry Announces New Faculty Appointments and Promotions
Drs. Eman Allam and Ahmed Ghoneima joined the School effective July 1, while seven of their colleagues earned promotions.

The UCLA School of Dentistry is pleased to welcome two new full-time faculty members and announce seven promotions, effective July 1, 2025. These personnel moves reflect the School’s commitment to academic excellence, clinical innovation, and leadership development across disciplines.

New Faculty Hires:
- Eman Allam, B.D.S., M.Sc., Ph.D., M.P.H. | Associate Professor | Joint appointment in Public and Population Health and Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, and Orofacial Pain
- Dr. Allam brings a global background in oral medicine, pathology, and public health, having held positions at Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU) and the European University College in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, as well as at the Indiana University School of Dentistry (IUSD) and the National Research Centre (NRC) in Cairo, Egypt. She conducts research in the areas of social and environmental determinants of oral health and the biologic effects of natural compounds on oral tissues. Dr. Allam is a member of the International Association for Dental Research and the American Institute of Dental Public Health, among other professional affiliations.
- Ahmed Ghoneima, B.D.S., M.Sc., Ph.D. | Health Sciences Clinical Professor | Orthodontics
- Dr. Ghoneima will direct the School’s postgraduate residency program in Orthodontics, joining the faculty from MBRU in Dubai where he served as chair of the Department of Orthodontic and Pediatric Dentistry. He previously held positions as director of the Orthodontics fellowship program and director of the 3D Imaging Laboratory at the Indiana University School of Dentistry. He earned his B.D.S., Master of Science, and Ph.D. degrees from Al-Azhar University in Egypt, as well as a Master of Science and a Certificate in Orthodontics from IUSD. A diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, his research interests include clear aligner design and innovation, airway assessment and analysis, and AI applications in dentistry.
