Empowering Patients & Families to Lead Change

Turning Lived Experience into Action for Inclusive, Compassionate Care

Who We Are

We are a community of current patients, caregivers, and loved ones of the UCLA Special Patient Care Clinic, working in partnership with the clinic’s dentists and staff to support its continued growth as a truly patient-centered care environment.

Mission Statement

The Patient Family Advisory Board (PFAB) for UCLA School of Dentistry’s Special Patient Care Clinic is committed to amplifying patient voices and perspectives to ensure patient needs are addressed and met with empathy and equity.

Goals

We fulfill our mission by providing patients, caregivers and service providers

  • Partnerships
  • Education
  • Outreach
  • Collaboration
  • Advocacy

Responsibilities:

  • Attend Meetings: Participate in regular meetings to discuss your experience with the clinic, offer suggestions for improvement, and based on your feedback we will bring in experts.
  • Share Feedback: Provide honest input on clinic services, communication, and care to help make them more patient-centered.
  • Help Find Solutions: Work with other members and clinic staff to recommend changes that improve care for patients with special needs.
  • Keep Things Confidential: Respect the privacy of personal information shared during meetings.
  • Inspire Through Advocacy: Support efforts to bring in guest speakers who share their personal advocacy stories. These stories help encourage and empower members to explore their own advocacy journeys and strengthen our collective voice for patient-centered care.
