Introducing the D.D.S. Class of 2030
UCLA School of Dentistry welcomes 88 future dentists, whose academic achievements include several new School records.
The UCLA School of Dentistry is excited to welcome 88 future dentists comprising its D.D.S. Class of 2030!
The incoming D1s begin their four-year journey with a record-setting academic profile. Its average overall undergraduate GPA of 3.90 and average science GPA of 3.88 are both the highest in School history.
The Class of 2030 also set new benchmarks on the Dental Admission Test (DAT). Under the DAT’s new three-digit scoring system, the class posted an average overall score of 489 and an average science score of 503 – both School records. Its average perceptual ability score of 477 ties the highest mark in School history. For comparison with the DAT’s former two-digit scoring scale, these averages map to scores of 24 overall, 24 in science, and 22 in perceptual ability.
The students bring a broad range of undergraduate academic experiences to Westwood, having pursued 32 different majors at 29 undergraduate institutions. Biology was the most common major, studied by 22 members of the class. UCLA is the most represented undergraduate institution, with 34 students continuing in or returning to Westwood for their dental education.
Women comprise approximately two-thirds of the Class of 2030, with 59 students self-reporting as female and 29 as male.
"We are excited to welcome the Class of 2030 as they begin the next chapter of their professional journey. Their dedication, resilience, and hard work have earned them this opportunity, and we are confident they are well prepared for the challenges and opportunities ahead,” said Dr. Jessica Owens, assistant dean of student services. “I know UCLA Dentistry will make them feel welcomed, supported, and at home as the newest members of our community.”
