This advanced level continuing education course is intended for clinicians that currently use or plan to incorporate CBCT imaging for implant treatment planning. The content will (1) Review evidence and current guidelines for CBCT imaging for implant treatment planning. (2) Discuss technical protocols of relevance to implant imaging, including protocols to prepare imaging guides and CBCT volumes for third-party processing. (3) Through illustrative cases provide an approach to navigate through the CBCT examination and create multiplanar and custom reconstructions to effectively plan cases for implant placement and bone augmentation. (4) Perform diagnostic work-up and implant planning. (5) Perform implant surgical guide design.

    Course format

    • Pre-recorded videos, 2 hours. Participants will view pre-recorded videos. Online quizzes will allow participants to assess their mastery of the subject content. This content will be discussed in more detail during the synchronous lessons.
    • Synchronous live lessons, 4 hours. Through case-based discussions, the course instructors will review cases, starting with diagnostic work-up, clinical and radiologic evaluation, implant selection, and guide design.

      Course Objectives

      After successful completion of the course, the participant will:

      1. Be familiar with CBCT imaging guidelines and protocols of relevance to implant treatment planning.
      2. Become familiar with image orientation for effective implant planning and recognize artifacts from CT imaging, of relevance to implant evaluation.
      3. Be able to assess the local implant site for bone quality and quantity.
      4. Understand digital implant treatment planning process and workflow.
